About me
I am currently a Professor in the Department of Applied Linguistics and English as a Second Language at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Before moving to Georgia, I was the director of the applied corpus linguistics unit at the University of Michigan English Language Institute where I managed the Michigan Corpus of Academic Spoken English (MICASE) and the Michigan Corpus of Upper-level Student Papers (MICUSP) projects from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, I taught in Germany at the University of Cologne and at Leibniz University of Hanover from where I received my PhD in English Linguistics in 2004. I am also an affiliate faculty member in the Corpus Linguistics Lab of the University of Florida. I serve on a range of editorial and advisory boards of professional journals and organizations, and am General Editor of the John Benjamins Studies in Corpus Linguistics book series.
